The Custer County Fair board will host its annual fundraising event this Saturday, Nov. 4, at Custer County Fairgrounds beef barn in Hermosa.
The fair board is a non-profit organization that continues to build its organization to provide opportunities for the agricultural industry. The board has worked with many volunteer efforts, donations and support from the community and sponsors to be able to implement capital improvements at the fairgounds. Throughout the years it has been able to bring some consistency to the fairgrounds with replacing all of the roofing with matching tin color, bringing facilities up to Americans with Disabilities Act code, revitalizing the softball fields and park as well as offering other necessities that come with hosting an array of events.
The fairgrounds are maintained and utilized on a periodic calendar throughout the year, mainly being used for the annual Custer County Fair that is held in August each year. Other events that are held are rock shows, church services, team ropings, barrel racings, craft shows, etc. The fair board wants to make the grounds better, host more events and be a great partner in their community.
The fundraiser is a soup and pie social from 5-6 p.m., followed by goat roping at 6 p.m.
