Elections that will shape the city council for the City of Custer and the town board for the Town of Hermosa will take place next Tuesday, June 6.
In the City of Custer, current alderwoman Kris Blom will face Julie Jenniges in the June 6 election. The election will be for a one-year term, after Blom was appointed by Mayor Jared Carson when nobody filed to fill the seat in last year’s election after former alderman Corbin Herman filled out his term as a Ward II alderman.
In Hermosa, Kathy Saulton and Vicki Henrichsen turned in petitions for the two open three-year terms they are currently filling, while two people seek a two-year seat on the board. Current board president Linda Kramer will square off against the town’s former finance officer, Shanna Harris, who was fired by the town Feb. 21.
These are the only two town races taking place in the county this election, as the rest of the boards either have candidates running unopposed or nobody filed a petition, meaning someone will have to be appointed to the respective boards.
There are no county races on next week’s ballot.
Voters in Hermosa will cast their ballots at United Church of Christ, 102 North 2nd Street.
Voters in Custer will cast their ballots at Custer City Hall located at 622 Crook Street.
