The Custer High School volleyball team competed in the Region 8A Volleyball Tournament last Tuesday night where its season came to a close with a loss to St. Thomas More.
The Wildcats came up short in all three sets (22-25, 22-25 and 19-25).
“We finished our season on the road against STM. The girls hung in on every set, but we couldn’t pull ahead to get the win. We were disappointed to have our season end so soon, but we were extremely proud of everything the girls accomplished through the season. We started as a brand new team with new coaches and had many changes as the season progressed. Through this all the girls faced every challenge head on and never gave up. Both Coach Jaure and I can’t speak highly enough of this team,” said coach Jill Hohn.
Seniors Renee Kirk and Leah Zacher both had six kills while Kenzie Becker had 16 assists. Kassidy Adam served two aces.
Teams competing in the Region 8A Tournament included Custer, St. Thomas More, Belle Fourche, Lead-Deadwood, Rapid City Christian, Hill City and Hot Springs.
Belle Fourche and Rapid City Christian will be advancing to the Sweet Sixteen Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 9.
The Wildcats close the season with a record of 17-13.
