Alfred Raver

Alfred “Wink” LeRoy Raver was born March 14, 1935, in Hot Springs, S.D.

On July 28, 1954, Alfred married Eileen Wilkinson in Sturgis, S.D., and they had three children, Jim, Randy and Rhonda.

By profession Alfred was a carpenter. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, AFL-CIO and he also was in the South Dakota National Guard.

Many knew him as Wink. He was a wonderful husband, a great father and grandfather, a terrific friend and a man who fought cancer to the end.  He loved life, loved camping in the Big Horn Mountains, loved teasing his beloved wife of 64 years and was a favorite patient wherever he found himself admitted. He didn’t know too many strangers, but if you were one, it wouldn’t take him long to make your acquaintance.

Alfred died July 30, 2018, in Casper, Wyo. He was 83.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Cecil Raver of Custer, S.D.; sisters, Hallie Ellerton of Rapid City, S.D., and Ellen Haven of Casper; and brother, Chuck Raver of Port Orchard, Wash.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Eileen Raver of Casper; sons, Jim (Alice) Raver of Nashville, Tenn., and Randy (Mary) Raver; granddaughters, Becca (Caleb) Palmer, Jen (Aaron) Limmer, Bethany Raver and grandson Adam (Tiffany) Raver, all of Casper; daughter, Rhonda (Wayne) Franzen of Casper; grandson Parker Franzen of Minot, N.D.; brothers, Allen Raver (sons and grandchildren) of Jackson, Wyo., Jack (Sylvia) Raver (children and grandchildren); brother-in-law, Russell Bull (children and grandchildren) of Casper; eight great-grandchildren; and various nephews and nieces.

At Alfred’s request, no services were held. A gathering of family and friends was held Aug. 3 in Casper.
