Jack Eugene Larson was born Nov. 1, 1943, to Donald and Myra (O’Connell) Larson in Custer, S.D. He was raised in Custer and moved to Edgemont, S.D., around 1964 and started raising a family.
He worked there in the uranium mines for 29 years, then moved to Rapid City, S.D., where he worked various trades, before he and Jeanne finally settled in Mesa, Ariz.
Jack had many hobbies. He liked to go fishing, rock hunting and making jewelry out of those rocks. If you knew him at all you eventually got a piece of that jewelry.
Jack spent the last part of his life battling illness due to the many years he spent mining to make a living to support his family.
Jack died at his home in Mesa March 9, 2019. He was 75.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; son, David Larson; his parents; and a brother, Melvin.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Linda (Jack) Hammes of Raymore Mo.; son, Richard (Mindy) Larson of Gillette, Wyo.; stepsons, Alan (Cheryl) Pueppke of Bennett, Colo., Randy (Carol) Pueppke of Mitchell, S.D., and Scott (Donna) Pueppke of Redding, Minn.; sister, Donna (Marvin) Hammer; two brothers, Bob (Virginia) Larson and Bill (Mona Lee) Larson; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Services will be later this summer in Custer.
