Mariana Chamberlain


Mariana H. Chamberlain  was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Fairburn, S.D., to Jennings A. and Gertrude Galentine Hawthorne.

She graduated  from Fairburn High School and attended Rapid City (S.D.) Business College.  She played the organ at Morocco and Mt. Ayr United Methodist Church and George Ade Memorial Health Care Center. She also taught organ and piano. 

On July 24, 1945, she married Gordon H. Chamberlain who preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1979. Mariana was a member of the Mt. Ayr United Methodist Church and the order of the Eastern Star. 

Mariana died June 27, 2019, at Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village, DeMotte, Ind. She was 93. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Stan Hawthorne; and a son-in-law, Randy Garrison.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela (Don) Kidd of Wheatfield, Ind.,  and Trudy Garrison Rensselaer of Indiana; two sons, Ronald (Cheryl) Chamberlain of Westfield, Ind., and Bryan (Karen) Chamberlain of Roswels, Ga.; 12, grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  

Services were at Mt. Ayr United Methodist Church in Mt. Ayr, Ind., with  the Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Brook, Ind.

Memorials may be given to Mt. Ayr United Methodist Church or Fairburn United Methodist Church.
