Sarah Frances (Drown) Heisler was born Aug 14, 1925, in McPherson, Kansas. She spent her early life in Redfield, S.D., and Grand Island, Neb.
She graduated from Wessington Springs (S.D.) College with an associate’s degree in theology and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army Liaison office in Washington, D.C. She was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed all types of music. She instilled the love of nature, life and music in her children.
Frances died peacefully Sept. 6, 2017, in Phoenix, Ariz. She was 92.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Francis Drown; mother, Katherine Reynolds Drown; brother, Leeland Drown; and granddaughter, Sarah Leah Boyle.
Frances is survived by her siblings, Mary Merrill, Phyllis Stoetzel, Dale Drown and Benjamin Drown; children, Noreen Drown, Emory Heisler, Timothy Heisler, John Heisler and Faye Benner; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial mass is scheduled in Hot Springs, S.D., at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Oct 14, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. She will be interred at Highlands Cemetery west of Hot Springs.
A reception and celebration of life will be held at the church hall following interrment.
