Stella B. Graham was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Toronto, S.D., where she attended grade and high school. She graduated from General Beadle College. (now Dakota State University) and taught school for several years.
Stella married Gavin in September 1943 in Lincoln, Neb. She had a direct contribution to the World War II effort by working in a war plant while in Lincoln.
In 1953 they moved to Custer, S.D., and she lived there ever since. Her life achievements included homemaker, teacher and cashier at Custer County Bank.
Stella died July 1, 2018, at Spearfish (S.D.) Regional Hospital. She was 95.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, three brothers and two infant children.
Stella is survived by her brother, Curt (Betty) of Yuma, Ariz.; two sons, Richard and Warren (Bambi) of Custer; daughter, Lois (Tedd) of Tucson, Ariz; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer July 6. Burial will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.
