The new social studies standards being proposed for the State of South Dakota by the state’s Department of Education were touched on briefly at the Dec. 12 meeting of the Custer School District Board of Education, with a larger discussion looming.
Because district curriculum development director Nora Smolnisky was unavailable for the meeting the broader discussion was tabled until the board’s January meeting but superintendent Mark Naugle did touch on the subject, giving board members a pop quiz on what grade level they thought proposed standards were planned for.
