I have one. Last week I was wrong about Sen. Rand Paul’s medical credentials. I stated that Sen. Paul was an optometrist. This is incorrect. Sen. Paul is an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon. Boy! Did I blow that. No disrespect was meant to Sen. Paul on my behalf. My bad. I hope this clears it up.
Greetings! Let’s talk COVID-19. I know what you’re thinking: you’re so sick of COVID on the news every day you could just scream! Me too. Marcia and I decided to get vaccinated Friday, Aug. 6. We both had COVID-19 in December 2020—hers much worse than mine—although I couldn’t smell for about three months. Her sense of smell didn’t leave her.
The people who live in Hill City are some of the most courageous, generous, creative and independent people on planet Earth. I should know...I have lived here for over 35 years and gotten to know many Hill Citians as friends and even family over those decades.

River needs that humidity to grow corn and soybeans. I had to make a trip to East River and was amazed at how good the corn and soybean crops looked. Praise the Lord!
Greetings! I have a lot going on here in my scattered thoughts. With all the talk about inflation going up 5 percent, I have issue with these economists’ modern math. If gas was $1.80 per gallon prior to President Biden and its $3.55 now, that’s pretty near a 100 percent increase. Perhaps these economists are using common core math? Yes, I did pay $3.55 per gallon at a station in District 30!
Since the announcement of the Hill City sawmill closure in April where is the help to save them? Although the help so far from our congressional delegation is appreciated, we need to all be working harder to save the Black Hills National Forest. Our delegation should be acting boldly, in similar form as past actions by Tom Daschle and others who turned the ship in the Black Hills.
I got a selfie with my former crush Kristi Noem! OMG she is gorgeous! I have to say she is a tiny little thing—she might even wear children’s clothes she’s so small.
What she lacked in weight she more than made up for in graciousness and personality. She couldn’t wait to brag about being a grandmother. She chatted with everyone who wanted to chat with her. She was funny and warm.
Greetings! On July 6 the Marijuana Summer Study toured the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe to visit their medicinal marijuana operation. Our group split into three separate groups going through in round robin: cultivation facility, dispensary and laboratory. The group I was in went to the dispensary first.
