Obituaries

Robert Michael Ellison was born in Boulder, Colo., Dec. 27, 1955. He was characterized as a free spirit. His adventures and work took him to many states throughout the U.S. He chose to plant roots in both Colorado and the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Mike’s hobbies included reading, hiking and enjoying God‘s great outdoors! We will remember his smile, boisterous laughter, witty sarcasm and the fact he always had an animal by his side.
Mike was ushered into the Lord’s presence from medical complications Nov. 16, 2021. He was 65.

Richard “Dick” Merlin Knutson was born May 24, 1931, in Humboldt, S.D., to Morris Oliver and Rosie Amanda (Swenson) Knutson.
He was raised on a farm near Dell Rapids, S.D., where he received his education and graduated from high school. Following high school, Dick proudly served the 82nd Infantry Division of the Army on the front lines of the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army in 1953, Dick returned to Dell Rapids and began farming.   

Robert “Bob” Bernard Piggott was born May 8, 1942, in Parkersburg, W.V. to Arthur and Lottie (Atkinson) Piggott. He was a home builder along with his sons.
Bob enjoyed racing motorcycles and hill climbing four wheelers with his family on the weekends. He loved camping, hunting, fishing and sitting around a campfire with family and friends telling life’s stories.

Our dad, Robert William “Bob” Nelson, cruised the hallways of the nursing home one last time, just after midnight Oct. 31, 2021, teasing the nurses as usual, then laid down and went to sleep for the last time. While we regret not getting to say goodbye, we know this passing was a blessing for a man who would rather be walking in the woods than roaming the hallways.
