Charlene Compton

Charlene Compton, 65, of Custer, S.D., passed away Oct. 1, 2025. 
She was born Nov. 21, 1959, in Deadwood, S.D., to parents, Glen and Lois (Cross) Longden.   
Charlene had a heart of gold, she was a true mother, always putting her family first.  Her family was everything to her! She loved items that had sentimental value.   Charlene loved with all of her heart and never gave up on her husband, son or herself. She will surely be missed.
Charlene is preceded in death by her sisters, Deon Longden and Glenda Longden; and her brother, Monte Longden. 
Surviving her is her son, Jake Compton of Custer; brothers, Bob Longden,  Gordon Longden and Greg Longden; and sister, Melodie Longden.
Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18 at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
