Custer County churches celebrate Holy Week

Custer County churches are celebrating Holy Week with a number of special services. This year, Maundy Thursday is April 2, Good Friday is April 3 and Easter Sunday is April 5.
Custer Lutheran Fellowship ELCA is having a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m and a Good Friday Crosswalk at 6:30 p.m. Then, an Easter Sunrise Worship service will take place at 6:30 a.m., followed by a worship service at 9:30 a.m.
Custer Community Church United Church of Christ is having a Maundy Thursday Soup and Bread Service of Communion at 5:30 p.m. On Easter, a sunrise service will take place at Heddy Draw overlook in Custer State Park at 6:15 a.m. A regular Easter service will follow at 9:15 a.m. at the church. 
Crossroads Church is hosting a self-led journey through of the stations of the cross Good Friday from 5-8 p.m. Easter Sunday services are at 8:10 and 10:10 a.m. A nursery will be available during the second service. 
Mountainview Baptist Church will have its regularly scheduled service times at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Easter Sunday. They will have a guest speaker, evangelist David Sommerdorf. 
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is celebrating the Holy Triduum as well as Easter. There will be Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 5:30 p.m. Holy Thursday, Stations of the Cross followed by Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion Good Friday at 3 p.m., Easter Vigil Mass Holy Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord Easter Sunday at 8 a.m.
Living Outreach Church is having a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. and a regular church service at 9:30 a.m. Resurrection Sunday.
Southern Hills Bible Church is having an Easter Sunday service at 9:15 a.m. Coffee and snacks will follow the service along with Bible hour at 11 a.m. 
Southern Hills Church of Christ is meeting at its normal service times with Sunday Bible class at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m.
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer is having a Maundy Thursday service with Holy Communion observed Wednesday, April 1, at 2 and 7 p.m. Good Friday Vespers are at 7 p.m. Then, they are celebrating Resurrection Day with Holy Communion at 10 a.m.
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran WELS is celebrating Easter at the church with a potluck breakfast at 9 a.m. followed by a worship service at 10 a.m. The service will include lay readings of the Easter morning Gospel, traditional Easter hymns and a sermon concluding the series “Women of the Passion History.” 
In Hermosa, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is having a free breakfast from 8-9:15 a.m. followed by an Easter morning worship service at 9:30 a.m. 
St. Michael Catholic church is having an Easter Sunday service at 9 a.m.
Hermosa United Church of Christ is having a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. Sunday services are at 10 a.m. to give attendees time to return from the Easter Sunrise Celebration at Mount Rushmore National Memorial, which is returning for its 78th year at the Visitor Center amphitheater at 7 a.m. 
Finally, Christ’s Tabernacle’s Resurrection Sunday service begins at 10 a.m. They will have a special song presentation from the children and a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christ’s Tabernacle meets at the Beef Building at the Custer County Fairgrounds in Hermosa. Everyone is invited.
