Dooley wins Gold Rush Fun Run

Wyatt Dooley of Custer was the overall winner of the Gold Discovery Days 5k Fun Run July 21.
Dooley ran the race in 20:09, nearly a minute better than second-place finishing Matt Noble, a Custer High School graduate who won the 30-39 male category while placing second overall at 21:02.
Logan Bauer of Owatonna, Minn., placed third at a time of 21:52, while Kevin Cooper of Custer was fourth at 22:18 while also placing first in the 50-59 male category. Mary Cooper placed fifth overall and first in the 60 and older female category at a time of 25:52.
Stacia Buchholtz of Elk Point was sixth overall and first in the 30-39 female category at a time of 27:18, and was followed by Brad McKinney of Custer, who placed seventh overall and first in the 60 and over male category in a time of 27:43. Rounding out the top 10 were Caleb Buchholtz of Elk Point at 28:02, Jeff Olen of Austin, Texas, (first in the male 40-49 category) at 28:20 and Megan Custis of Vermillion at 28:28.
Other category winners were Melissa Jakobi of Spencer, Wis., first in the 40-49 female competition at 31:58, Quinn Lewison of Custer, first in the 29 and under female category at 32:07 and Jill Reinart of Neillsville, Wis., first in the 50-59 female category at 36:50.
There were 42 participants who finished the race.
