Emelia ‘Minnie’ Moulton

Emelia “Minnie” M. Moulton was born May 12, 1945, in Eureka, S.D., to Jacob and Mathilda Malsam.
As a young child, she lived on her family’s farm near Hosmer, S.D., and later the family moved to Pierre, S.D.
She was united in marriage to Dennis F. Moulton in 1962 in Pierre, S.D. They lived all over the U.S., where they raised three children. They eventually moved to Custer, S.D., in 1978, then left in 1985 for 13 years to travel internationally due to Dennis’s job. They eventually returned to Custer in 1998. They were always inseparable as they played golf, built homes, and hunted/fished together. They were married for 62 glorious years.
Minnie, of Custer, died at Monument Health Custer Hospital Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024. She was 79.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Marvin; and her two sisters, Jean Kiesel and Carolyn Benson.
Minnie is survived by her husband, Dennis; three children, Laura (Rico) Gibson, Keven Moulton, and Cindy (Reginald) Hughes; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Wendell (Rose) Malsam and Ronald (Rebecca) Malsam; and her sister, Bernadette (Jim) Tucker.
Minnie will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. A Celebration of Life will be planned during Christmas with a burial at the Custer Cemetery.
