Ervin Goldammer

Ervin Edward Goldammer was born Dec. 30, 1927, to Louie and Martha (nee Olawsky) Goldammer. He farmed from a young age on his parents’ and uncle and aunt’s farms.
He married Ella Gocken Sept. 5, 1948. He continued to farm northwest of Mitchell for many years, retiring and moving to Custer, S.D., in 2001.
He served on various boards, notably on the board of directors of South Dakota Farmers Union and on the board of directors of the local Cenex organization and on the board of directors of South Dakota Association of Cooperatives, receiving numerous awards for his efforts there and also for soil conservation efforts.  He also served as a member of the South Dakota Independent Review Committee, Farm Service Agency, United States Department of Agriculture.  
Ervin was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell, S.D., serving as Elder and Sunday School Superintendent as well as participating in numerous other ways.
Ervin was called by his Lord Jesus Christ to his heavenly home Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. He was 96.
He was at the time of his death a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer, S.D.
Ervin was preceded in his death by his parents; three sisters, Ann Wilson, Gladys Siebenahler and Marlene Gerlach; as well as two brothers, Arthur Goldammer and Wayne Goldammer.
He is survived by his wife, Ella; son, Gordon; sister, Edna Sprecher; three brothers, Wilbert Goldammer, Darrell Goldammer and Richard Goldammer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Dec. 16 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer with funeral service following.    Committal service was immediately after at Custer Cemetery.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
