Gale Barney
Gale Kent Barney, age 79, passed away June 8 2025, in Kingman, Ariz. He was born July 9, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Kenneth Dean Barney and Faye Madeline Letellier. He was known by his middle name of Kent.
Kent was 9 months old when his family moved to a ranch in Norris, S.D. Kent learned how to run all the equipment and helped from a very early age. Along with brothers, born later. He finished high school in Belvidere, S.D., then attended a tech school in Denver, Colo.
Kent did many jobs before he went driving truck cross the country. Got married and had three daughters. Later divorced. Left Colo. and moved to Hill City, S.D., where he drove logging trucks. He then went to work at a coal mine in Wyoming. Here he learned to run all the heavy equipment. Retired from there and moved to Spring Creek, Nev. Worked for Newmont Gold Co. of Elko, Nev. Retired 21 years later. Met his wife Linda, and they married January 30, 2008. The love of his life. They spend 17-1/2 beautiful years together.
After retirement, Kent and Linda moved to Golden Valley, Ariz. where they bought a side by side. They had many adventures with it on the trails, visiting different kinds of mines and exploring Lake Mead.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his younger brothers, Michael Lynn Barney and Dale Brent Barney; a stepdaughter, Sonya Jones Levine; a nephew, Jason Brent Barney; three grandchildren; and many other loved ones.
Kent is survived by his wife, Linda; his three daughters, Annie (Tim) Kloos, Chrissy Lyons, and Karie (Jamie) Duclo; stepchildren, Kevin Miles and Kathy Caprarotta; sister-in-law, Fran Barney; nephew, Matt Barney; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Kent will be buried in the Hill City Cemetery at a later date.
At his request no services will be held.
