Basketball season is heating up for the Rangers girls team as they come off of back to back big wins. The team smoked Elkton-Lake Benton in the Dakota State University  Girls Classic by the score of 59-34. Senior Guard Abby Siemonsma was MVP scoring 22 points during the win. Siemonsma also had  three assists, three steals and was 8-18 on field goals.
The Rangers also defeated Spearfish in a tight, come from behind victory on the road.
“We were down 10 in the fourth quarter and won in overtime,” coach Wade Ginsbach said.
The Rangers scored 58 points, defeating the Spartans by just four points. Ginsbach said the team is “constantly adjusting and learning with every game.” He expects some very good competition in the upcoming road games which  this week include a winless Lead-Deadwood team in addition to the 5-5 Sundance (Wyo.) Bulldogs.
The boys basketball team easily defeated the Edgemont Moguls after suffering a disappointing loss to the Spearfish Spartans. The boys are 1-4 on the season going into this week’s play against Lead-Deadwood.
