The Custer High School girls golf team played its way to a second-place finish at the Douglas Invitational April 26, the beginning of a week that also included a cancelled meet and a postponed home meet.
The Wildcats finished with a team score of 440 at Douglas, 15 strokes behind first-place finishing St. Thomas More.
Maddie Meyer was the team’s leading golfer at the meet, as she fired a score of 105, good for sixth place overall. Also placing in the top 10 was Jordyn Uphoff, who fired a 110, good for 10th place.
Shauna Zacher was the next Wildcat finisher, shooting a round of 111. She was followed by Lauren Robb at 114, Quinn Lewison at 115 and Taylee Schramm at 149.
Rylan Horning of St. Thomas More took medalist honors at the meet, firing an 81.
The Wildcats were supposed to play last Friday at Boulder Canyon County Club for the Sturgis Invitational, but that meet was cancelled due to weather. Custer’s home meet at Rocky Knolls Golf Course that was scheduled for last Monday was pushed back a day for the same reason. Results of that meet will be published in next week’s issue of the Chronicle.
