Hill City varsity golf is ready to tee off with the first tournament of the season, the Class B Classic in Mitchell, April 11.
The team is once again maxed out with 12 boys this season and the entire varsity roster returning from last year.
“The team is led by seniors Leo Daiss and Adolph Tyler with junior Zane Messick and sophomore Breylon Rahn returning from last year’s sixth place finishing state tournament team,” said head coach Josh Daiss.
Daiss expects junior Max Rupert to “compete in the majority of the varsity tournaments to gain valuable experience for next season.”
The Hill City team is coming off a phenomenal 2024 season. Once again Wall is one of its biggest rivals.
“We are currently the two-time defending region six champion, but three-peating will not be a given with both Wall (seventh place state finisher) and Philip (10th place state finisher) returning their entire rosters,” said Daiss.
Daiss said the team is “looking forward to the challenge again this season and will be looking forward to playing our best golf come state tournament time.”
Hill City also has four girls playing golf this season. Daiss describes them as “newer golfers who will be looking to develop their games.”
The team compete in JV action in their first tournament at the Elks Golf Course April 17.
