Golf season tees off

The Custer High School sports season officially got underway Monday courtesy of the Wildcat boys golf team, which played in the Sturgis Invitational at Boulder Canyon Country Club.
The team was led by Jackson Wiles, which posted a team-best score of 95, which was good for 22nd place. Not far behind him was Lane Poper, with a score of 98, and Regan Sorenson at 99. Rounding out the Custer scores were Curtis Sorenson at 110 and Colby Riley at 131.
As a team, the Wildcats posted a score of 403. The meet was won by Belle Fourche with a score of 329.
The Wildcats return to action Thursday for a meet at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City followed by the Lead-Deadwood (Pre-Region) Invitatonal at Tomahawk Golf Course south of Deadwood. The meets begin at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.
