Golf team second at home meet
The Custer High School golf team was in Hot Springs Monday for the Southern Hills Invitational, placing fifth as a team with a score of 406, lead by Lane Poper’s 93, which placed him just outside of the top 10 at the meet.
Also competing for Custer was Zayden LaPlaca who shot a 96. He was followed by fellow Wildcats Xander Heuer at 103, Dillon Hanis 114, Kolby Riley 119 and Hunter Woodward 124.
Last Friday the Wildcats hosted their lone home meet of the season, when they welcomed area teams to the Custer Invitational at Rocky Knolls Golf Course.
The Wildcats played their way to a second-place finish as a team, finishing with a team score of 338. Spearfish won the team championship with a total of 322.
Regan Sorenson paced the Wildcats at the meet with a score of 82, which was good for sixth place. He was followed by Poper in eighth place at 84, Ayden Petz at 87, Jackson Wiles at 88, LaPlaca 91 and Curtis Sorenson also fired a 91.
The Wildcats are next in action next Tuesday when they head to Hart Ranch for the Black Hills Conference Meet, which is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.
