For the second year in a row, the Custer girls golfers have punched their ticket to participate as a team at the state tournament in early June. The Wildcat team came in second behind St. Thomas More (STM) at the Region 4A golf tournament in Belle Fourche last Tuesday with a combined score of 438 as compared to 420 for STM. Host team Belle Fourche finished in third place with a score of 476 and Hot Springs was fourth with 479.
The individual champion was STM’s Rylan Horning who shot 82. Tying for second place were Custer freshman Shauna Zacher and Tobi Carlow of Lakota Tech with 101 strokes each.
Lauryn Robb was two strokes back at 103 to bring home a four place medal and teammates Jordyn Uphoff and Quinn Lewison tied for 10th place with 117s. Maddie Meyer shot a 124 for 14th place.
“It was a great day for the Wildcats,” head coach Haley Uphoff said.
