Halloween fun begins Friday in Custer
The new Custer Monster Mash event is the newest addition to Custer’s lineup of Halloween fun, and it takes place this Friday at a variety of downtown businesses.
The Monster Mash Poker Dash will bring participants to each business to take a selfie at different stations throughout the night. For $25 participants receive an official event cup to use in the open container area, a poker hand, a lanyard for the poker pub crawl and snacks at the Custer Beacon for the Custer Monster Mash Bash. Additional poker hands can be purchased for $10, and participants can pick up their bundle of goodies from the Custer Chamber of Commerce during business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Participants make their way to all participating businesses with the aim of ending with the best poker hand and winning prizes. Participating businesses will also compete for the best selfie station.
The Monster Mash also features a fall decorating contest. Decorations can range from creepy to cute, but they need to be set out by Friday, Oct. 25, to be considered. Winners will be chosen, and the Custer Area Chamber of Commerce will offer prizes for the best entries. If you want to sign up to participate email assistant@custersd.com.
Finally, The Merchants’ Trick or Treat will bring a creepy crowd of Halloween revellers in search of candy and treats to downtown businesses. The fun starts at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Families can bring their trick or treaters and begin at Western Skies Realty for their trick or treat bag and an official list of participating businesses.
