Hayley Kern

Hayley Elizabeth Kern was born March 21, 1985, in Kimball, Neb.
Hayley’s children were the light of her world; she loved them so much. The times they spent together were full of fun and love.  She also loved her nephews and enjoyed every minute she had with them. Hayley loved the game of basketball and was a huge Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan. She loved to fish with her kids and all things outdoors. Hayley loved deeply.
Hayley, of Custer, S.D., passed away Jan. 14, 2022, in Fort Pierre, S.D. She was 36.
She was preceded in death by her uncles, John Stahla, Vince Cortney and Dan Cortney; grandparents, John and Betty Teare, Robert Biggs Carl and Fern Stahla, Ron and Blanche Cortney and Margie Heidemann; and cousin Judy Cortney.
Hayley is survived by her parents, Teresa and David Cortney of Custer, S.D.; Doug Berger of Kimball, Neb.; children, Bentley, Carter and Austin; brother, Nate (Mycalyn) Cortney and nephews Mason, Talen, Gradin, Jaxtan and Isaiah Cortney of Edgemont, S.D.; grandparents, Larry and Kathleen Stahla of Kimball; uncle, Steve (Bonnie) Stahla  of Sundance Wyo.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Christian Funeral Vigil will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer.
Christian Funeral Mass will at 1 p.m., Saturday,  Jan. 29 at  St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer.
