Homecoming next week
Homecoming week in Hill City is next week.
As is customary, there are plenty of events taking place during the week.
The school, too, is requesting that people bring in candy to be thrown out during the homecoming pep rally, which has become customary.
The candy can be brought in and dropped off with Mary Skillingstad. Bite-sized Halloween candy is appreciated.
Below is a schedule of events for homecoming week.
Monday, Oct. 14
No School. Coronation is at 6 p.m. There will be a brisket and pork feed courtesy of the Hill City Masons and baked bean cook off at 7 p.m.
The cost is $5 for sixth grade and older and $3 for kindergarten through fifth grade.
The school asks that different classes bring the following types of dishes to the school lunchroom before 6 p.m. on Monday. Each dish should feed 10 people.
Freshmen and sophomores bring salads, juniors and seniors bring desserts.
Tuesday, Oct. 15
The theme for the day in the high school and middle school will be “Mean Girls Day.” The theme in the elementary school will be “sports day.”
The C, junior varsity and varsity high school volleyball teams will take on St. Thomas More. Games will start at 5 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 16
The theme for the day in the high school and middle school will be “Endgame Day.” The theme in the elementary school will be “Superhero versus Villains Day.”
Thursday, Oct. 17
The theme for the day in the high school and middle school will be “Power Rangers Day.” The theme for the elementary school will be “Class Color Day.” Kindergarten is red, first grade is yellow, second grade is green, third grade is orange, fourth grade is purple and fifth grade is blue.
High school junior varsity and varsity volleyball will take on Wall High School starting at 6 p.m. Middle school volleyball C, B and A teams will take on Belle Fourche starting at 4 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 18
The theme for the day in the high school and middle school will be “Friday Night Lights Day.” The theme for the elementary school will be “Green and Gold Day.”
The pep rally will take place around 12:30 p.m. Dismissal will be at 1:15 p.m. that day.
The homecoming carnival will take place from 1:15 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
High school football will take on Kadoka High School at 6:30 p.m.
