Judy Stenwall-Garfinkel

Judith “Judy” K. Stenwall-Garfinkel, age 78, went to be with our Lord peacefully Jan. 13, 2026 , at the Custer Care and Rehab Center in Custer, S.D.
Judy was born in Lincoln, Neb., July 16, 1947, and was raised in Ponca, Neb. Judy met and married her husband of 40 years, David E. Stenwall, Sr.
Judy had two sons, Steven M. Stenwall of Millington, Tenn. and David E. Stenwall, Jr. of Texas, and she also had a step-daughter whom she always called her daughter, Dyionne Menier of Richland, Wash.
After the loss of her husband, David, Judy met and married Guy Garfinkel of Custer. 
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Robert Elliott; her mother, Marion (Robertson) Elliott; her son, Steven Stenwall of Millington; and her sister, Mary Van Buskirk of Dixon, Neb.
Funeral arrangements are being handled through Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs, S.D. 
Burial services will be announced at a later date to take place at the Black Hills National Cemetery along with her late husband David Stenwall, Sr., a veteran of the U.S. Army and her son, Steven M. Stenwall, a Naval Corpsman attached to the U.S. Marine Corps for 12 years.
Memorials may be sent to Judy’s favorite charities, ASPCA and the Wounded Warrior Project.
