Learn more about local 4-H Saturday

Custer County children have an opportunity to learn about 4-H this Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Custer County Library.
Both current 4-H members and club leaders will be on hand to share about 4-H with the community.
Booths will be set up in the Pine Room with 4-H information and participants can visit with 4-H kids and learn how to make green slime and a 4-H friendship bracelet.
4-H is America’s largest youth development organization, empowering six million young people with the skills to lead communities and the country. 4-H is represented by the green clover with four white H’s on each leaf, representing the 4-H pledge. In 4-H, youth use their heads to learn and develop life skills like goal setting, their hearts to support and encourage others, their hands to carry out a wide variety of community service projects and their health to improve the quality of life for themselves and others.
Custer County currently has 82 youth involved in 4-H and 32 volunteers.
“You can be involved in 4-H in so many ways,” Custer County 4-H educator Keri Cochran said. “Come out and find out ways you can be a part of 4-H. We have four community clubs and two shooting sports clubs in the county, and we are looking to grow the program.”
