Lewis Compton

Lewis “Louie” James Compton was born April 21, 1958, in Douglas, Wyo., to Lewis and Charlotte Compton.  
Louie loved his family and his friends.  He loved being in the woods, either playing or working.   His profession was forest restoration, managing trees and the forest.  
Louie, of Custer, S.D., passed away June 11, 2024, at his home in Custer. He was 66.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Alice Madonna Compton.
Louie is survived by his wife, Char of Custer; son, Lewis “Jake” Compton of Summerset; brother, Jon (Tammy) Compton of Helena, Mont.: and sisters, Becky (Vernon) Huber of Huron, S.D., and Kathy Chamberlain of Hill City, S.D.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22 at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
Committal services will follow at Hill City Cemetery.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs, S.D.
