Marjorie Heddles

Marjorie Jane Heddles, 92, peacefully went to be with Jesus Jan. 16, 2021, at her home in Rapid City, S.D.

Marge was born April 2, 1928, in Wolf Point, Mont., to a banker turned farmer and his wife.

After graduating from CSU she married R.J. Heddles. In 1952 they moved to Palmer, Alaska, and she became a schoolteacher, mother and dairy farmer’s partner. Seventeen years and four children later they moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where she was an active substitute teacher and homemaker.

Her faith in Christ was renewed powerfully in her 40s and became a significant lifelong passion. After retirement, Marge and RJ spent time traveling, being near grandchildren, and continued their love of square dancing, before settling permanently at their cabin near Hill City, and later in Rapid City. She and R.J. were married for 55 years before R.J.’s death in 2006.

Marge will be remembered as spunky, industrious, generous, adventurous and game-loving. She was a fan of family reunions and a faithful member of Little White Church in Hill City.

She is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Her children Larry (Connie) Heddles, Kathryn Cleveland and Janet (Brian) Chleborad all live in the local area and Jim (Brenda) Heddles lives in Arizona.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m. at the Little White Church in Hill City.  Private burial will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery.

Her online guestbook is available at OsheimSchmidt.com
