Missing Custer woman found deceased

On the evening of April 23, Johnna Bense’s vehicle, and subsequently Bense, was located in rural Fall River County. Bense was deceased.
Bense’s cause of death is being investigated by the Fall River County Sheriff’s Office.
“This is not the outcome we were hoping for, but are happy that Johnna’s family has closure,” Custer County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Derrick Reifenrath said. “We would like to thank all of the agencies involved in the search along with the public.”
Bense, 59, had been last seen leaving her apartment in Custer without her glasses, hearing aid or medication. She was believed to be with her car.
