Ranger girls claim six game winning streak

With three games last week, the Hill City High School Ranger girls basketball team refused to break their winning streak. They now stand at 10-2 for the season. 
To start, the Rangers played a home game against the Belle Fourche Broncs Jan. 16. Historically, the Broncs have beaten the Rangers by 58-50 in 2022 and 49-26 in 2023. This year, the Rangers turned the tables and won 49-42.
Maggie Taylor had 19 points and 16 rebounds, Lillie Ross had 11 points and Alaina Dean had eight points and five assists. 
Next, the Rangers traveled to Deubrook Area High School to play against the Dolphins. The last time the Rangers played the Dolphins was Dec. 30, 2022, when the Dolphins won 52-41. Once again, the Rangers pulled off a win with a final score of 48-30. 
Dean scored 12 points. Meanwhile, Zoe Alexander scored eight points coming off the bench and was 100 percent from the free throw line. 
Then, the Rangers headed to the Dakota State University Shootout Jan. 20 where they played the Garretson Blue Dragons. The Rangers won 54-31. 
Ross had 14 points and four assists, Dean had 11 points and five assists and Taylor had 10 points, 16 rebounds and six assists. 
This week the Rangers played against the Sturgis Brown Scoopers Jan. 23. Results were not available upon publication. 
After that, the Rangers will travel to Wall High School for a game against the Eagles Thursday, Jan. 25 at 8:15 p.m. Then, the Rangers will face the Custer Wildcats for a home game Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.
