The Hill City High School girls basketball team added another victory to its scoreboard for the season during its game against the St. Thomas More (STM) Cavaliers Dec. 19.
Head coach Anna Eckert said, “I didn’t feel like we played very well against STM. We ended up coming up with the win, but it wasn’t a win that leaves you satisfied.
“Maggie Taylor and Lillie Ross both had two big plays in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter to help us finally breathe a little bit. Maggie hit a three from the wing, and Lillie had a nice drive from the baseline that helped widen the score.”
All told Taylor had 20 points and 15 rebounds and Ross had 13 points and 4 assists in the game against the Cavaliers. The Rangers won 44 to 34.
Next, the Rangers will face the Spearfish Spartans for an away game Thursday, Jan. 4, at 6:30 p.m. After that the Rangers will have a home game against the Philip Scotties Friday, Jan. 5, at 6 p.m.
“We have plenty of work to do before then,” said Eckert.
During the Christmas break, Eckert said, “We will take the break to evaluate what has been working and what hasn’t been working for us. We will also be working on upping our intensity and effort during practices.”
