Rangers all-conference in every event group

At the Black Hills Conference Track and Field Championships May 10, the Hill City High School Ranger track and field team had boys and girls place all- conference in every event group. Overall, the girls scored 68 points, and the boys scored 102 points.
Head coach Joe Noyes said, “It was the most points we had scored on the girls side and the boys side.”
In the 200, Caleb Sobolik placed eighth at 24.02. Then, in the 800, Brandon Escalante won with a state-leading time.
“He ran a 1:56.59—pretty impressive. That leads all classes,” said Noyes.
Also in the 800, Leighton Aves placed fourth with a personal record of 2:01.99, and Devin Buehler placed seventh at 2:05.17.
Luke Rupert won the 1600 meter run by .03 of a second, finishing with a seasonal record of 4:26.83. Tate Grabow placed third at 4:30.43.
For the 3200 meter run, James DuBois placed fourth with a personal record of 10:55.07, and Aiden Williams placed eighth at 11:27.90.
Grayson Rahn placed sixth in the 110 hurdles at 16.80 and fourth in the 300 hurdles with a personal record of 42.41. Brensen Veneklasen also had a personal record in the 300 hurdles. He placed third at 42.29.
The 4x100 relay team including Aidan Voorhees, Brayden Wilkison, Ayden Kurtz and Mason Wiese placed sixth at 46.06. Ay. Kurtz, Wilkison, Zephaniah Martinez and Noah Schelske ran the 4x200 relay and placed sixth at 1:36.72.
In the 4x400 relay, Buehler, Aves, Grabow and B. Escalante placed second at 3:32.01. Then, Voorhees, Wilkison, Martinez and Rupert won the medley relay with a time of 3:49.72.
Cody Groven placed seventh in shot put with a personal record of 40-4.
For high jump, Buehler placed fourth at 6-1, and B. Veneklasen placed eighth at 5-7. For long jump, B. Veneklasen placed fourth at 19-8, and Nick Schroeder placed seventh with a personal record of 19-1 1/2 Finally, in triple jump, Schroeder placed fourth with a personal record of 40-11 3/4, and Alexander Stoeckmann placed fifth with a personal record of 40-1.
In the girls 100 Alaina Dean placed fifth with a season record of 12.97, and Riley Wiese placed sixth with a personal record of 12.98. Al. Dean placed seventh in the 200 at 27.43. Sara DuBois placed seventh in the 400 with a personal record of 1:01.42.
For the 1600, Abby Cutler placed third with a season record of 5:23.33, and for the 3200 Brooke Thayer-Burke placed fourth with a personal record of 12:39.49.
R. Wiese placed fourth in the 100 hurdles with a seasonal record of 16.08. Anna Dean placed eighth in the 300 hurdles at 51.50.
Jessica Escalante, Demi Schrier, Addysen Kurtz and Tiara Faehnrich placed eighth in the 4x200 relay at 1:59.34. J. Escalante, Schrier and Ad. Kurtz ran again with Aspen Veneklasen in the medley relay. They placed fourth at 4:44.82.
Xitlalic Lupercio placed eighth in discus at 96-11.
In high jump, Kylee Alexander placed sixth with a season record of 4-9.
With two personal records, Al. Dean placed second in long jump at 17-3 3/4 and first in triple jump at 36-0 1/4
“Alaina Dean reset both of her school records in long jump and triple jump so she had another great day jumping,” said Noyes.
Also, in long jump, Dakota Allmer placed eighth at 15-7.
Then, Noyes said, “Kylee Alexander in her first ever attempt at triple jump hopped on the board and is sitting ninth in the state now so that was an awesome job by her.”
Alexander placed fourth at 34-0 1/4
“It was a great day. I’m really pleased. To me, it’s a great indicator about what we’re going to do over the next two weeks and has me pretty excited,” said Noyes.
Next, the Rangers will compete at the Last Chance Meet in Custer Thursday, May 16 at 10 a.m.
“It’ll be one more opportunity to compete, and we’re excited for it,” said Noyes.
