The Hill City girls’ volleyball team is off to a strong start beginning the season by sweeping Custer Aug. 23.
New head coach Allison Henderson was “very happy” with the victory, she said.
“It took a little while to shake the cobwebs off but once we got in our groove, things went much more smoothly,” Henderson said.
“There are always improvements to make and things we need to work on so it was a great experience for everyone to see where there is work to be done. First games of the season are always nerve wracking but they finished strong and that's what’s important,” she said.
The Rangers traveled to Rapid City Christian for the Comet Fall Opener Tournament this past weekend with mixed results, losing twice to the 5-0 Rapid City Christian Lady Comets.
The Rangers are currently 3-3 on the season.
This week, the Rangers hosted their first home game against Spearfish last night. Henderson outlined her plan of attack against the 1-4 Spartans.
“I want to be much more strategic on offense and work on some better defensive systems. We always have to take just one game at a time while still using our end-of-season goals to help drive us in the moment,” Henderson said.
