Rangers face tough games this week

Hill City High School boys basketball coach Laramie Harvey said the Rangers had a couple losses last week that were with closely matched teams, but things just weren’t going their way. They were back-to-back games with Douglas at home on Thursday night, falling to the Patriots 67-58.
“Douglas made quite a few of their three-pointers which made a big difference in the game,” said Will Walther, a Ranger team member.
On Friday the Rangers traveled to Philip and lost a real close one 76-72. Walther said if they could just have kept up the intensity, he thought they could have won. He said the other team players were hitting some big shots.
“Offensively we did quite well but our defense was a little weaker. In both games we missed quite a few layups,” said Harvey.
The Rangers have another grueling week with games on Thursday, Saturday and Monday. On Thursday they travel to Rapid City Christian, and Saturday to St. Thomas More. Next Monday the team will go next door to Custer for their final game of the regular season.
Walther is approaching the next few games with optimism, saying, “I think we can beat any of those teams if we just play right.”
