The Hill City Rangers Golf Team took 17th overall at their first trip to a state  tournament in the history of the school.
Normally a two-day event, intermittent rain hampered play for all the teams involved. Play on Monday was suspended in the afternoon due to rain. The boys were able to continue that first round on Tuesday morning. However by afternoon rains caused the entire event to cease, and only the first round scores were counted.
Coach Josh Daiss said it was quite a bummer to not get the whole tournament experience. However,  he noted that it was a fun competition and experience, “especially for the younger kids.”
The team has already begun setting  goals for next year.
Daiss and team members wished to thank the community  and Hill City Volunteer  Firefighters for the escort out of town.
“It was really cool,” Daiss said of the firefighter’s  sirens.
