The Hill City High School Rangers golf team three-peated as the Region 6B champions this season  at the Hart Ranch Golf Course May 22.
The win marks the third  consecutive regional championship for the team, with the Wall Eagles once again trailing right behind. The Rangers finished with a team total of 237.
“Winning the region was one of our preseason goals, and to accomplish it feels great,” said coach Josh Daiss. “Wall and Philip have a great group of golfers, and we have pushed each other to improve each tournament.”
The win came with  Zane Messick scoring a 79  and Breylon Rahn firing an 84.
Outgoing senior Adolph Tyler, who shot an 81 for the day, said the region win  “feels amazing.”
“As a graduating senior, this moment means a lot, even more because I’ve been with this same group of teammates through it all—the highs, the lows and now our third regional title,” he said.
Tyler said the team has “built something special” and that it’s through the “immense hard work and trust in each other” that the team has met with such success.
Leo Daiss, also an outgoing senior, led the team with a 77 on the day. He says the team has been striving for this all season.
“I think all the guys are happy with the results,” Daiss said, “but we are still looking to bring home a banner for Hill City.”
Tyler agrees, saying, “We’re preparing to finish what we started. I couldn’t ask for a better group to go out with.”
The Rangers now head to Watertown May 31 to prepare for the state tournament which is hosted at the Cattail Crossing Golf Course June 2-3.
