Requiring ID is not voter suppression

We’ve been hearing a lot from Democrats and other misinformed people about how Georgia is trying to suppress the votes of residents there, particularily black people. New voting requirements in that state will require some kind of personal identification before a citizen of that state is allowed to cast a ballot. This will apply to absentee ballots, mail-in ballots and voting in person.
These requirements are nothing new and were the standard operating procedures before the pandemic hit last year. It’s amazing that this voter ID requirement is being called racist by Dems and liberals who obviously must believe that anyone, even illegal aliens, should be allowed to vote in our elections. Every Georgia voter must already present some form of photo ID to vote in-person.
Another point of contention in the new Georgia law seems to infer that voting hours on election day have been cut from 9 to 5 when in fact they are still 7 to 7. Biden himself has repeated this lie over and over again, as well as his press secretary Jen Psaki. Biden has called the new Georgia voting rights law something akin to “Jim Crow days” when black voting was really and truly suppressed. I doubt that he has even read the law.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp calls these attacks “disingenuous and false” and points out other things the bill does. It expands access to early voting statewide by requiring two mandatory Saturdays and allowing local election officials the option of up to two Sundays during early voting. This would result in hundreds of increased early voting opportunities across the state.
SB 202 also protects polling locations from electioneering by private individuals. Election officials may provide water at stations within 150 feet of the precinct. Beyond 150 feet, as previous Georgia law allowed, private individuals may campaign and provide food and water for voters. It also requires local election officials to continue tabulating votes until counting is complete and mandates the use of security paper to ensure complete authentication of ballots. None of these have anything to do with so-called “voter suppresion” or “Jim Crow.”
It appears that not many Georgia voters agree with Biden and Democrat leaders as 74 percent of all voters support the law, which also has 55 percent support of Democrats. Black voters support the law to the tune of 63 percent and it has 98 percent support of people making $25,000 or less a year. The law aims to eliminate voting irregularities that were a bone of contention in this last presidential election.
Apparently some people have not read the law and  believe only what they hear on CNN or MSNBC. The Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star game scheduled for Atlanta is being moved someplace out of Georgia because of the new voting law. These people maybe should have read the bill first. This was an extremely ill-advised move by MLB which counts conservatives as some of their biggest fans. MLB may well be going the same downward ratings way as the NBA and NFL.
The PGA Tour and Masters Tournament has been called upon by a civil rights group to pull the tourney from Augusta National and urged professional golfers to refuse to play in Georgia unless the bill is repealed. Both CEOs of Delta Airlines and Coca Cola have stated their “crystal clear” opposition to the new voting law after initially declining to take a position on it. Apparently they faced increasing outrage and threats of boycotts from the likes of activists, customers and a coalition of Black executives. Chalk up another strike by cancel culture. This is crazy!
Isn’t it amazing that the CEOs of the two largest Atlanta-based corporations could come to this conclusion after supposedly reading the bill? Voter ID is not exactly a new concept in this country. We don’t understand how this would be restricting voter rights.
