Tasia Boson

Tasia Dawn VanSchoonhoven was born Jan. 23, 1984, to Scott and Linda (Hanson) VanSchoonhoven at Custer S.D.
She grew up and attended school in Custer. She enjoyed spending time and playing with her two brothers, Joel and Ryan VanSchoonhoven. She really enjoyed the time she spent with her maternal grandparents, Alfred and Isabel (Olson) Hanson.
She moved to Rapid City, S.D., with her mom in 1999. On May 28, 2003 she was blessed with the birth of her daughter, Lynaya VanSchoonhoven.
On Aug. 8, 2005, she married Nathan Boson. On June 13, 2006, she gave birth to a son, Jacob. The family lived in Rapid City, Pierre, S.D., and Negaunee, Mich., before moving back to Rapid City. She enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking with the family. She especially loved to draw and write her own stories and poems.
In 2021 she moved with her mom, Linda (Dan) Bartos, and daughter to Pierre. She really enjoyed spoiling and spending time with her two granddaughters, Malorie Dawn Mendez born June 28, 2021, and Kaylynn Isabel Mendez, born Nov. 7, 2022.
Tasia passed away suddenly Feb. 1, 2023, at her home in Pierre. She was 39.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
Funeral services were  Feb. 7 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer with committal services following at Custer Cemetery.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
