Tear down that Capitol wall

Democrats seem hell-bent on labeling former President Trump’s supporters as radicals and dangerous, tyrannical insurgents following the Jan. 6 attacks on our nation’s Capitol building. After the president’s speech at a mall rally that morning, Trump implored his supporters to peacefully march down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol and urge Senators not to certify the November presidential election.
A few hundred people who were not all Trump supporters stormed past undermanned Capitol security officers and damaged some doors and windows. Some of these unarmed people were later identified as Antifa members by the FBI. Some were seen changing into Trump shirts prior to participating in the riot. Not everything was as it seemed at the time. Antifa and Black Lives Matter activists are reportedly posting videos and bragging online about storming the Capitol Jan. 6.
A Capitol police officer died in the attack. Initial reports said he died after someone struck him in the head with a fire extinguisher. A coroner’s report found no blunt trauma to his head.  Not much was ever said about the unarmed female Air Force veteran who was shot and killed by a law enforcement officer for breaching the Capitol building. That appeared to be use of excessive force. We haven’t heard much, if anything, about that killing.
Subsequently, a 12-foot-high security wall with razor-sharp concertina wire at the top was constructed around the Capitol and adjacent government buildings. This wall was protected by an initial number of 25,000 National Guard members. Several thousand of them still patrol the perimeter today. There are Congressmen demanding the wall be torn down and the Guard members be sent home so citizens can again have access to “The People’s House.”
The wall was built under the direction of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats who feared another attack on the Capitol and their own persons. They are now labeling all Trump supporters as potentially dangerous domestic terrorists, when nothing could be further from the truth. They are some of the most God-fearing, patriotic Amerians and they number at least 74 million strong.
Democrats once again tried and failed to have Trump impeached, this time for inciting a riot that damaged the Capitol building and resulted in five deaths. Twitter and Facebook banned him from their platforms so he could not communicate with his supporters.
Isn’t it ironic that Democrats refused to help Trump build a wall to protect our Southern border, but suddenly decided a wall was needed to protect them and the new administration from its own citizens!  America is not yet a Third World country and should not need to have its government officials protected by a walled compound surrounded by uniformed soldiers with fully automatic weapons.
These National Guard soldiers should be sent home to their families and jobs and the wall dismantled so Washington, D.C., can get back to normal with citizens having free access to their elected officials. And the border wall construction on our Southern border should not be stopped by Biden who apparently has no idea what he is doing.
Mrs. Pelosi, tear down that Capitol wall!
