Top brass have deep concerns

It’s become painfully apparent these past few weeks that our new president is in way over his head. People knew what they were getting when they voted for Joe Biden, a Washington, D.C. career, do-nothing politician from Delaware who was the alternative to a sometimes controversial President Donald Trump. Biden assured us that despite his age he was up to the job of running the country. He has been running it alright, right into the ground since his inauguration.
The country was humming along and coming out of the shadows of COVID-19 that put a temporary halt on a roaring economy. All the Biden administration had to do was to keep certain policies, like immigration control and border fence building and energy independence in place. Instead, Biden chose to stop wall construction, open our borders and shut down construction of a major fuel pipeline, which cost thousands of jobs.
Apparently the Biden administration doesn’t share the same disdain for Russian pipelines as it does for ours. It recently lifted sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 natural gas underwater pipeline from Russia to Germany. This means the Russians can go ahead with this pipeline project and potentially make millions, if not billions, from this project  which would weaken Ukraine by depriving that country  of natural gas revenue. Does this make any sense at all?
With the recent cyber-attack on a major fuel pipeline in the eastern part of our country, we can see how vital pipelines are to the lifeblood of the nation. The vast majority of service stations in a half dozen states experienced long lines for fuel and quickly ran out entirely, resulting in stranded and angry motorists. Only after reportedly paying a $4 million ransom was the pipeline up and running again. Hackers in Russia were the suspected culprits, but they could have been from anywhere.
The current state of affairs has not escaped the notice of over 120 former top military leaders who have signed a letter outlining threats to our “constitutional rights,” including Biden administration policies. The open letter was published May 10 by a group “Flag Officers 4 America,” which questioned the results of the 2020 election and Biden’s “mental and physical condition.” It also expresses concern about China, the Iran nuclear deal, critical race theory and the border wall.
It’s somewhat unusual for a group of 124 generals and admirals to engage in political actions, but the letter’s organizer, retired Maj. Gen. Joe Arbuckle, said that to “remain silent would be a dereliction of duty” since the “situation facing our nation today is dire.” Arbuckle continued, “It is critical that the threats to our national security be brought to the attention of the American people and that is the main purpose of the letter.”
The U.S. has “taken a hard left turn toward socialism and a Marxist form of tyrannical government,” the letter says, and called on Americans to “get involved” and elect political representatives who will “defend our constitutional republic” and obey the “will of the people.”
The security threat the military officers are talking about does not include “white supremacists” as some in the Biden administration mistakenly believe, but includes lack of southern border security and loss of energy independence due to cancellation of oil drilling permits on federal land. These are two very big deals that will ultimately end up costing us a lot of money if not corrected.
These are fairly easy fixes, but it is doubtful Biden’s handlers like Susan Rice and Barack Obama will ever change course because that would mean they would have to admit policies of the Trump administration were working for Americans who are not embracing communism and Marxism.
We knew Biden would not be up to the task of leading this country, but his detachment and incompetence to handle the current crises is beyond comprehension.
