Fund started to help Dr. Sharon

Sharon Seneczko, owner of Southern Hills Animal Clinic, has earned a reputation for compassionate care for her patients as well as their humans during her 22 years as a veterinarian in Custer. Now it is the animal doctor who needs help.
Dr. Sharon, as she affectionately is known in the community, contracted COVID-19 in late October. After spending more than two weeks in the hospital she has been diagnosed with bronchiectasis, an obstructive lung disease. Currently working toward recovery but still unable to return to work she faces mounting medical bills.
Many of her clients can recall times when Dr. Sharon went far beyond what a veterinarian would be expected to do in order to help their animals. She once performed a risky operation on a dog who had been run over by a vehicle and severely injured. That night she spent lying on the floor of her clinic next to her patient in case he should need her help. She still often returns to the clinic at 10-11 p.m. to check on a seriously ill animal. Another dog she treated was the beloved companion of an elderly homeless man. When his health began to decline the owner moved into a nursing home where he could not bring his canine buddy. Dr. Sharon kept the dog and periodically brought him to the nursing home for a visit. For many years she has provided medical care for the critters at the Custer Humane Society. In addition to pets, Dr. Sharon also has worked on horses and even wild animals, including bobcats and mountain lions.
