Terri Lynette Elizabeth Fringer was born in Baker, Mont., Aug. 17, 1960, the daughter of Jim and Alice Anderson.
Terri passed away Dec. 13, 2020, from COVID-19 in the Casper, Wyo., Memorial Hospital. She was 60.
She was cremated in Casper. There will be no funeral or services but two celebrations of her life are being planned, including one this summer in the Black Hills.

Gerald Teller

 Gerald D. Teller, 77,  of Hermosa, S.D., died Dec. 28, 2020.
Celebration of Life Services will be Friday, Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Hermosa.

Kathleen Carrier

Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Carrier, 67, of Custer, S.D., passed away Dec. 17, 2020, at her residence in Custer.  
Per her wishes, no services will be held.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.

 

Roy Roadifer

Roy E. Roadifer was born on October 18, 1926 to Ada and Arthur Roadifer. He was one of 9 children.
Before graduating high school, Roy enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in World War II, and helped to liberate Okinawa. 
After the War, Roy earned his GED through Custer High School. He married Ramona Haugen on November 16, 1947. They worked together at the Custer movie theater prior to the War. They had their first date 7 months before they married, and recently celebrated 73 years of marriage.

Mary Sandland

Mary G. Sandland was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Chino, Calif., to Jesus and Marcelina (Hernandez) Alcola.   
Mary, of Custer, S.D., passed away Dec. 6, 2020, at Rose Haven Assisted Living in Custer. She was 93.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gail Bennet.   
Mary is survived by her son, Pat (Joan) Busskohl of Edgerton, Wyo.; four grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grand child.
Committal services will be held next spring, for close friends and family at the Custer Cemetery.

Gerald Spargur

Gerald A. “Jerry” Spargur was born to Mildred and Irvin Spargur Aug. 31, 1937, in Custer S.D. He was one of four sons, including his twin brother Jack.
After graduating from Custer High School in 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1960.  He returned to Custer to work as a logger and equipment operator, and his last position was at Black Thunder Mine in Campbell County, Wyo.
In 1962 Jerry married Nadine Plumb and they had two children. In 2000 he wed Alice Halstead and gained two stepdaughters.  

Norma Halbert

Norma Lucia Halbert, known as Lucy to many, was born Sept. 11, 1956, in Ft. Riley, Kan., to Gene and Doris (Klein) Landphere.  
Norma, of Custer, S.D., passed away Dec. 2, 2020, at Monument Health Custer Hospital in Custer, S.D. She was 64.

Dean Young

Dean Donald Young and Paula were married March 5, 1983, in Wisconsin and moved to South Dakota in 1992.
Dean had a wonderful career with the U.S. Forest Service that brought his family to the Black Hills and made them all proud.
He loved the outdoors and passed the passion on to his sons. Hunting and fishing trips were never really about the harvest, only the experience. A great sense of humor afforded everyone he saw a big smile and laugh.

Dana Harbour

Dana Marie Scott Harbour was born in Hot Springs, S.D., March 11, 1960 to Jimmy and Colleen Scott weighing only three pounds, one ounce.  She had a rough start but after blood transfusions she survived and thrived. Dana was a happy child and always had a smile on her face and a bounce in her step.
Dana attended school in Custer, S.D., and graduated from Custer High School in 1978. She went to college in Sioux Falls, S.D., to become a court stenographer.  After college she went to work in Missoula, Mont. Her next move was to Arizona where she found work and her future husband.

Jill Kettle

Jill  Annette Kettle was born June 23, 1963, in Milton Wis. She graduated from Milton High school in 1981 and moved onto attending Black Hawk Technical College.
Jill married Ron Kettle May 7, 1988, and lived in Janesville, Wis., before moving to Sioux Falls, S.D.  They eventually moved further west to the Black Hills in Custer, S.D.  This is where Jill became active in the Pringle United Methodist Church.
Jill loved jewelry, purses, dogs, nature, motorcycle rides and driving her convertible along with people.
