Dawn Goodsell of Custer, S.D., died Sept. 12, 2019, after a brief struggle with stomach cancer. She was 54.

She is survived by her husband, Heath Goodsell; sons, Aaron Holden (Sarah and Stella), Justin Holden (Alyssia, Carter, Camden, Carson) and Corbin Goodsell; daughter, Tristan Goodsell; and brothers, Dirk DeBlois, Dennis DeBlois (Ricki) and  Brian Hall (Pat).

Yvonne M. McCarthy was born to Clarence and Minnie Thorne at their home in Denver, Colo., March 9, 1934.

Daniel Myers II

Daniel Joseph Myers II was born July 24, 1983.

Daniel, of Fort Collins, Colo., died at the Medical Center of the Rocky Mountains in Loveland Colo., Aug. 24, 2019, due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Fort Collins. He was 36.

Ann Marie Hamilton, aka Custer, South Dakota’s Mrs. Santa Claus, was born Dec. 11, 1951, to Willard E. and Betty LaVonne (Young) Lindsteadt In Norfolk, Neb. She attended grade school at Christ Lutheran and graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1971.

Daniel L. Hamilton

Daniel L. Hamilton was born Jan. 3, 1954, in Riverton, Wyo., to Onyx P. (Smith) and William Stanley Hamilton.

He was an Army veteran, an artist and a gunsmith. He also worked in mining, logging, oil, construction and trucking. He was a life member of VFW Post 3442, in Custer, S.D.

James Rothstein

James Vernon Rothstein was born to Lucy and James Rothstein Sept. 7, 1939, in Aberdeen, S.D. He grew up in Mobridge, S.D., and graduated from high school there in 1958.  Unsure of what to do after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and remained enlisted until 1962.

Sandra Kaye (Waggoner) Rhodes was born in Custer, S.D., Feb. 6, 1949, to Nellie and Ed Waggoner. She lived her early years in Custer and attended Custer schools. She enjoyed spending time with relatives, especially her maternal grandparents, Florence and Roy Davis, and her uncle, George Davis all of Custer.

Stephanie Marrie Petty was born Dec. 13, 1978, to Art and Carla (Sands) Petty in Miles City, Mont. Her life started in Montana but she came to life when her family moved to Custer, S.D.
It is in Custer where she made her home and had the opportunity to touch the lives of so many of the members of the community.   In her early years she was able to develop quite a personality and a resilient spirit right along with it. She made it look so easy to find a way into your heart and once she was there you didn’t want to let her go.
