For Martha and Bob Schilling, it’s all over. Their careers at Lynn’s Dakotamart spanning a combined total of more than 25 years have ended, and from here on out, it’s seven-day weekends for the couple.
Bob is anxious to fish.
“Oh, our retirement party?” he said. “That’s three hours I could be fishing.”
Martha said he might have to wait a bit before he gets out there, as he’s not an ice fisherman. In the meantime, he has some other projects to keep him occupied.
There are 22 million children in Tanzania under the age of 15 who have no pediatric hospital to serve them, said Paula Lofstrom, RN, coordinator of International Health Partners, U.S. & Tanzania (IHP). She, her husband, Dr. Dennis Lofstrom, and many other volunteers are working to solve that.
The Lofstroms told their story at the March 9 meeting of Custer Rotary Club, with Paula saying IHP is doing its third hospital project in Zinga, Tanzania, this one a pediatric hospital that will include a neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
10 years ago, 2010 — Over 50 percent of Custer High School students admit to using alcohol, while 40 percent say they use tobacco, according to an anonymous student survey ... A dozen Boot Hill Subdivision landowners came to Custer’s Board of Equalization hearing to object to what they said were unfair increases in their lot valuations ... Saying it was stuck between a rock and hard place, the S.D. Public Utilities Commission voted unanimously to approve a 20 percent interim rate increase for Black Hills Power customers.
