A missed shot here. A few fewer turnovers. A different bounce of the ball. A different call.
At the end of the Custer High School basketball team’s 57-55 loss to Rapid City Christian Jan. 23 at the Armory, Custer head coach Paul Kelley was lamenting what could have been had a couple more things gone the Wildcats’ way.
“Even before the game, I told the kids it’s going to be a fist fight,” Kelley said. “They are going to be bumping you, and you’re going to be bumping them. To be a top team, you have to play defense. I thought both teams played pretty darn good defense.”
