Noxious weeds are a widespread and costly problem in the Black Hills and are affecting numerous local landowners. 

Patchwork of art, economics to be found at quilt show

The 26th annual Hill City Quilt and Fiber Arts  show is taking over Hill City for two days Sept. 6-7. 
“It’s a big thing,” said Lorena Freis, this year’s coordinator. Over 350 quilts have been entered.
A majority of the quilts will be in Gins Gym at Hill City High School.
Thirty-nine quilts will be hung up and down Main Street in Hill City.
While most quilts entered into the show come from women, about 10 to 15 men enter quilts into the show.

Studebakers return to Custer Aug. 31

Five decades of automobile history will be on display in downtown Custer when members of the Studebaker Drivers Club (SDC) gather for their annual, free outdoor show Sunday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Visitors to the show are invited to vote for their favorite car or truck.  

Memorial Park gets first major update

The new playground equipment at Memorial Park is officially open for children to use.
This is the first of several renovations that Memorial Park will undergo over time. 
The new equipment was purchased by the Hill City Park Board for approximately $97,000, with the company offering a huge discount on the item through the Burke Move With Us grant. The price included not only the standalone, multi-use equipment but also the mulch and edging that surrounds the apparatus.
