10:10 a.m.: A dog was reportedly “humping” random customers at a downtown Custer retail store. A deputy told the dog owner to take the dirty dog home and keep it there.
Monument Health could lose $40 million a year in federal revenue, be forced to reduce some medical services and have to cut back on construction efforts as a result of plans by Sanford Health to build a competing medical campus, Monument’s CEO said in an interview.
Sanford Health announced Monday that it will use a $300 million gift from its namesake philanthropist, Denny Sanford, to build a medical center in Rapid City.
Bill Gassen, president and CEO of Sanford Health, announced the gift during a Rapid City event that drew numerous local and state dignitaries.
“This philanthropic investment will strengthen health care in this community and across the entire region,” Gassen said.

1:09 a.m.: A deputy on patrol in Custer State Park happened across a wrecked vehicle on Hwy. 16A near the Hwy. 87 junction. The driver, a 31-year-old Rapid City male, wasn’t hurt, but deputies subsequently arrested him for driving under the influence of alcohol.
