James Willmus was recognized as the 2023 volunteer of the year at the South Dakota State Railroad Museum in Hill City.
At the Dec.14 presentation, museum executive director Rick Mills said “every year we honor one of our volunteers that go above and beyond.”
Willmus was chosen for his continued passion for railroads in addition to his promotion of the museum.
“We couldn’t do it without them,” said Mills about all of his volunteers.
Besides a plaque, Willmus will receive a new book Mills is writing, due out in the spring.
